Sometimes I think public institutions make mistakes on social media on purpose, to get a bit of attention. I do it in the occasional lecture, to see if anyone is listening. Not always a good idea, by the way, because sometimes they aren’t.
Anyway, I saw the tweet shown here at the left recently. The picture is of John A. Macdonald, the first Prime Minister of the Dominion of Canada. But the tweet is about John Abbott. He was Canada’s third PM after 1867, and he was a John A., but this ain’t him in the picture.
